Obituary

Shane Matthew Franken passed away unexpectedly on August 11, 2023, while working in his family's business, Franken Construction Company.

Shane was born on February 4,1985, 38 years ago in Las Vegas, New Mexico to Lawrence and Rita Franken.  Shane grew up in Las Vegas and attended Robertson High School.  After graduation he attended New Mexico Highlands University for a brief time.  Shane had a colorful resume of work after leaving university.  He went to diesel mechanic school, he worked as a contract tractor trailer driver for several years, at one time owning his own semi tractor trailer rig.  Shane loved driving cross country.  His passion for truck driving took him to the North Slope of Alaska, rarely seen by many people, several times, where he drove a rig over the frozen Artic Ocean and lakes, delivering fuel and supplies to drilling operations on the North Slope.  He also worked for a drilling contractor in the Bering Sea and lived in Alaska for a year, making Anchorage his home.

Ultimately the family business, Franken Construction Company and his love for the area brought him back to Las Vegas.  Shane worked alongside his father, Lawrence for many years and was had a part of constructing several buildings in the Las Vegas area, in Raton and the University of New Mexico.  After his father retired as a Superintendent and took an office job, Shane began supervising construction projects for the company.  Shane was supervising the construction of the West Las Vegas High School welding shop and baseball complex concession stand at the time of his passing.

He is survived by his father Lawrence and wife Denise, his mother Rita of Albuquerque, his sister, Azlynn of Albuquerque, his nephew Jameson, that special person in his life, Amanda of Pueblo, Colorado, his beloved Aspen and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Shane was greatly loved and will be deeply missed. Your life was a blessing, your memories are our treasures.  We will miss and love you always.
