Shelley passed away at home from breast cancer complications on June 29, 2023.

Shelley was born in San Francisco in 1958 and spent her early childhood in California and Australia. She was educated in England, getting her degree at the U. of North Wales in Marine Biology and then her doctorate at U. of Birmingham. She moved to Spain. She met her husband, Jack while working in Madrid.. They went to California and spent five years there before escaping to the Sangre de Cristo Mountains 26 years ago. She had many jobs and gained many friends during her time at the US Post Office.

Shelley is survived by her mother, husband, two sons, a brother and a sister. A "Celebration of Her Life" will be held later in the year.
