Sofia Jesusita Martinez was born on March 24, 1955. Our mother passed away peacefully at home on December 21, 2024. She was born to Alfredo and Maria Garcia in Las Vegas, NM.

Sofia was united in marriage with Roy Martinez in 1977. She was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt and sister. She will forever live in our hearts and she will always be remembered as being the loving, caring and hardworking person she was.

Sofia was a 1973 graduate of West Las Vegas High School. Sofia earned an associate degree from Luna Community College in Criminal Justice in 1999. Sofia enjoyed crocheting and working on different crafts, making dolls and blankets. Sofia loved to bake and one of her favorite was baking bread.

She is preceded in death by her infant daughter, Angelica Martinez; her parents, Alfredo and Maria Garcia; sisters Anna Taylor (Charles) and Christina Abeyta (Louis); brothers, Alfredo Garcia and Samuel Garcia.

She is survived by her husband, Roy Martinez; children, Rachel Ciddio (Danny), Alfonso (Jessica) Martinez, Juanita Martinez, and Viva (Remegio) Monaya; grandchildren, Santana, Adrina and Orlando Ciddio, and Raymond, Ravine, and Rayven Monaya; siblings Benito (Lillian) Garcia, Johnny (Sheila) Garcia, sisters, Gloria Bustos and Anna Maria Garcia.

The family would like to thank her caretakers, Marissa and Emma, and Dr. Jesus Tafoya who took care of her this past year and Anvoi Health for their service.

Rosary will be held on Friday, January 24, 2025 at 2:00pm at Rogers Mortuary Chapel. Honorary Urn Bearers; John Thomas Garcia, Ernie Espinoza, Christopher Espinoza, Jerome Martinez, Michael Barboa, and Orlando Ciddio. We would also like to mention Jacobo and Ren Encinias, who were very special to her.
