Sophia Alicia (Gallegos) Encinias, age 86 has gone to be with the Lord, March 25, 2024 after battling illness. Sophie was born August 7, 1937, in Pastura, NM to parents Luis Maguin Gallegos and Margarita "Maggie" (Moya) Gallegos. She was raised in Puerto De Luna, Santa Rosa and Milagro, NM. After graduating high school, she raised her 7 children in Las Vegas, NM. Later in years she earned her associate degree from Luna Community College. She worked for the Las Vegas State Hospital as an administrative clerk for 12 years. She was a devoted Catholic and parishioner of the Immaculate Conception church, played the guitar and sang in the church choir for many years. She loved to garden, sing and play guitar, sew, and loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Sophie was preceded in death by her parents Luis and Maggie Gallegos; brothers, Gregorio Gallegos, Luis Gallegos Jr.; sister, Minnie (Gallegos), sons; LeRoy Encinias and Robert Encinias; daughter-in-law, Stella Encinias; grandson, Richard Montoya Jr., and great-grandchildren, Christina, Mariana, Matthias.

She is survived by her children Gene Encinias of Las Vegas, NM, Jeanette (Richard) Montoya of Las Vegas, NM, Daniel (Lori) Encinias of Rociada, NM, AnnaBelle (Craig) Bryan of Columbus, OH, and Louie Encinias of Midland, Texas; her brothers and sisters; Mae Romero of Albuquerque, Maria Bentacu of Albuquerque, Julia Seybert and husband Fred of Rio Rancho, Esther Romero and husband Anthony of Phoenix, AZ, Larry Joaquin Gallegos and Juanita of Albuquerque, Charlie Gallegos and wife Cathy of Santa Rosa, Patricia Martinez and husband Tony of Rio Rancho, Albert Gallegos of Albuquerque and Lorenzo Gallegos of Albuquerque, NM.

Also surviving are 21 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren along with numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends.

Rosary services will be held on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at 6:00PM at Our Lady of Sorrows Church. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, April 4, 2024, at 9:00AM also at Our Lady of Sorrows Church with Father Rob Yaksich officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery with the following serving as Pallbearers and Honorary Pallbearers; Lorenzo, Mario, Leigh, Angel, Melissa, Erica, Raymond, Rachel, Phillip, Danielle, Amanda, Justina, Jaylene, Kirsi, Roberta, Dillon, Martin, Jesus, Dakota, Shantae, and Devin.
