Our beloved Mother, Sister and Friend, Sophia Adela Vigil, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 24, 2024.

She was born in Ojo Feliz, NM on January 14, 1940 to Fares and Durcilia Martinez and was a lifelong resident of Mora and Las Vegas, New Mexico. She lived her life full of Love and was a True friend to all. She loved music, dancing and enjoying FAMILY.

Sophia is preceded in death by her mother, Durcilia Martinez; brother, Bobby Martinez; sisters, Martha Mares and Virginia Martinez and nephew, Joaquin Martinez.

Left to cherish her memory are her children; daughter, Geraldine (Ray) Pino; sons, Alfredo (Dawn) Vigil and Louis (Jeanette) Vigil. Grandchildren, Raymond, Carlos and Nico Pino and Families; Brandon, Sebastian, Julian, Chyloe, Christian and Cody Vigil; great grandchildren, Angelita, Devon, Kaitlyn, Shanté, Raymond, Briana, Colten, Brooke and Filadelphio; great-great granddaughter, Arabella; sister, Eleanor Romo & family; brothers Benny, Fares, Albert and Donald Martinez & Families. Numerous uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

A rosary will be recited on Friday, July 5, 2024 at 7:00 pm at St. Gertrude Church in Mora, NM. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2024 at 10:00 am at St. Gertrude Church as well. Interment will follow at Cementerio de San Joaquin with the following serving as Pallbearers; Raymond Pino, Jr., Carlos Pino, Nicolas Pino, Sebastian Vigil, Julian Vigil and Devon Sandoval. Honorary Pallbearers will be her great grandchildren.
