Steve Michael Martinez “Lombardo” was called home to our Heavenly Father on May 1, 2026. He was born in Cleveland, New Mexico, to Nestor W. Martinez and Floraida G. Martinez.

He is preceded in death by his father Nestor Martinez; grandparents Leandro Leyba, Maria Leyba, Juan Isidro Martinez, and Cleotilde Martinez; brother-in-law Raymond “Remo” Valdez; aunt Dorothy Martinez; and cousins Lucille Cordova and Christina Leyba.

He is survived by his mother Floraida Martinez (Robert); brothers Johnny Martinez and Lawrence Martinez (Monica); sisters Patsy Martinez (Eusebio) and Lillian Padilla (Steven); nieces Kimberly Martinez (Anthony), Tiffany Padilla (Zeke), Estrella Martinez (Nate), and Chevelle Maes; nephews Leo Valdez (Victoria), Travis Valdez (Mito), Anthony “AJ” Martinez, Adrian Martinez, Lazarus Maes, Fabian Varela (Mallorie), and Estevan Varela (Dennika); special friend and companion Molly “wife” Martinez and his best friend Tito, his dog; and numerous relatives and friends.

He loved the great outdoors, taking walks with Tito, going for wood, going to the casinos, occasional dances, watching western movies and TV shows, and of course watching the Green Bay Packers. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time at home helping mom with household chores and odds and ends around the house, spending time with family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all.

There will be a Rosary on Tuesday, May 12, 2026 in St. Gertrude's Parish in Mora, NM, at 7:00pm. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, in St. Gertrude's Parish at 10:00am. Interment will follow immediately after at the family plot in Coyote, NM. Serving as pallbearers will be Patrick Trujillo, Travis Valdez, Frank Martinez, Bernardo Leyba, Isaac Leyba, and Nathan Leyba. Honorary pallbearers will be Anthony “AJ” Martinez, Adrian Martinez, Lazarus Maes, and Chevelle Maes.
