Steve Rodriguez, 65, of Las Vegas, New Mexico, passed away on August 7, 2026. He was born on April 10, 1961, to Carlos and Mary Rodriguez.

Steve was a beloved son, brother, uncle, godfather, and friend whose life was marked by kindness, strength, faith, and a deep love for his family. Those who knew and loved Steve will remember him as someone who cared deeply for the people in his life. He did not need recognition or attention for the things he did for others. His love was often shown quietly, through being present, lending a helping hand, offering encouragement, and simply being someone, his family and friends could count on.

Steve dedicated many years of his life to serving the State of New Mexico as a Juvenile Probation Officer. Throughout his career, he worked with patience and compassion, helping guide young people through difficult circumstances and encouraging them toward better paths. He had the ability to see the good and potential in others, even during some of their most challenging moments. His work reflected the kind of person he was understanding, patient, and willing to give others the opportunity to do better.

Steve also had a lifelong passion for weightlifting and fitness. He valued discipline, perseverance, and taking care of himself, qualities that extended far beyond the gym and into the way he lived his life. His strength was not only physical but also reflected in his character and in the steady way he faced life’s challenges.

Above all, Steve was a man of faith. His belief in God was an important part of his life and could be seen in the way he treated those around him. His faith gave him strength and guided him throughout his life. He showed his love and faith not only through words, but through his actions, his compassion, and the quiet comfort he offered to others.

Steve was preceded in death by his father, Carlos Rodriguez; his sister, Sandra Rodriguez; and other beloved family members who went before him.

He is survived by his loving mother, Mary Rodriguez; his brothers, Clarence and his wife, Yoliver Rodriguez, and Alonzo and his wife, Bella Rodriguez; his sisters, Christine Rodriguez, Anna Rodriguez, and Candelaria and her husband, Patrick Gallegos; Steve’s girlfriend, Rita L; along with many nieces, nephews, relatives, and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.

Steve was also a proud and loving godfather to Andrianna, Carli Rae, Kristopher, and Kellsee. Being their godfather was a role he carried with love and pride. He was someone they could look to for support, guidance, and encouragement, and the love he had for each of them will remain a special part of his legacy.

Steve’s life touched many people, and his absence will be deeply felt. He will be remembered not only for the work he did or the years he lived, but for the person he was a loving son and brother, a caring uncle and godfather, a devoted friend, and a man whose quiet strength and kindness left a lasting impression on those fortunate enough to know him.

Although Steve will be deeply missed, the love he gave, the lives he touched, and the memories he leaves behind will continue to live on through his family and all who loved him. His memory will forever be carried in their hearts.

Rosary will be recited on Wednesday, August 19, 2026 at 6:00pm funeral mass will be conducted on Thursday, August 20, 2026 at 9:00am both services will take place at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Las Vegas, NM. Burial of cremains will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Las Vegas, NM.
