Steven M.
Gallegos
October 5, 1980 – September 11, 2024
Steven Gallegos, a cherished individual known for his kind, selfless, loving, caring and humorous personality, left us on September 11, 2024. Born October 5, 1980, Steven lived a life filled with tremendous passion for coaching, his family especially his kids and grand babies, serving his community, making lots of memories with friends, his fire department and working.
Steven was known for his practical jokes, missions with his friends and family, huge heart, his singing and dancing, attending every fire dept call, volunteering his time to coach the kids of his community, being the best dad and pampo & pillar of his community. A jack of all trades, he was a hard worker and he loved and gave with all he had.He loved camping, riding the side by side, and sitting around the campfire laughing with family. He was a die hard Lobo fan, and basketball fan. He loved politics and campaigning. Every Election Day, he was the first one to set up at Valley, and the last one to leave. The Valley (Schools) and the El Valle Fire Department held a very special place in his heart. Being Fire Chief was his proudest accomplishment in life, career wise. In life, his greatest accomplishments were his pride and joys, Bianca, and Estevan. The loves of his life were Ahlani Rae and Ariah Mae.
Since birth, he was there for everything for all his babies and god children, especially stepping up as a father figure for his godson Mickie. Growing up, they never had to check the stands or crowd for their Dad or Nino, because he was there, their biggest and proudest fan or on the sidelines coaching. He always did his best to make games for his godchildren, nieces, nephews, friends, and former athletes.
Steven was a pillar in our community, and surrounding communities, a leader, and encouraged so many to do the same, with his most famous quotes being "Don't Talk About It, Be About It." He always showed up for everyone and anyone that asked. Steven was the person everyone could count on. Most didn't even know he was battling cancer the last five because he never let it slow him down.
He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Tillie and Fernandez Gonzales, maternal Grandpa Max Padilla whom he was all very close with. Uncle Steve Jordan, Cousin and Best Friends, Gary Vigil, and Marcelino Trujillo, best friends Gilbert Rivera and Victor Ulibarri.
He is survived by his children and pride and joys Bianca (JD Yara), and Estevan Gallegos, and the loves of his life, his grand babies Ahlani Rae, and Ariah Mae Yara-Gallegos. His parents Steve and Dora Gallegos, sister Amanda Gallegos (Tony Vigil), his God Children MaxxMarie Cordero, Mickie Gallegos, Martin Sena Jr.. Grandma Mary Padilla, Nina Annabel Vigil, Ninos Leroy Vigil & Donald Gallegos & NUMEROUS Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Friends, the class of '99, all his former athletes, and his former fire crew.
