Sylvia Marie Martinez Daniel, 83, a lifelong resident of Las Vegas, New Mexico and member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church was called home on Monday, April 29, 2024. She was born on May 20, 1940 to Jose Leon Martinez and Rosenda Tapia Martinez.

Sylvia is preceded in death by her parents Jose and Rosenda; husband, Curtis Daniel; sons, Steve L. Chavez and Patrick Chavez; brothers, Prudencio Martinez, Frank Martinez, Jose L. Martinez, Jr., and Orlando Martinez.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Berna Chavez and Rose Archuleta of Las Vegas, New Mexico and Bill Daniel of Las Vegas, Nevada; grandchildren, Marie (Chris), Paul (Celine), Annette (Andrew) and Kayla; great-grandchildren, Jazmine, Isaac and Elisa; sisters-in-law, Phyllis Martinez and Faye Martinez of Las Vegas, Nevada and Audrey Chavez of Las Vegas, New Mexico; special cousins, Walter (Elizabeth) Padilla and Lydia Tapia all of Las Vegas, New Mexico along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Services will be held on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Las Vegas, New Mexico beginning at 9:00 a.m. with a Rosary, followed immediately by a Mass of Christian Burial.

Interment of cremains will take place at a later date.
