Our beloved Sylvia Gloria Montoya, 78, went to be with Our Lord on July 12, 2022 in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister and aunt.

Sylvia was born on September 22nd, 1943, in Lucero, New Mexico, to Alizardo and Virginia Montoya.

She is preceded in death by her parents Alizardo and Virginia Montoya, and her only son, Chris J. Gallegos, brothers, Jimmy Montoya, Jessie Montoya, Joe Montoya and sister Josie Salazar.

Sylvia is survived by her daughters, Valerie Montoya (Anthony) and Margaret Montoya; grandchildren, Joshua Baca (Asia), John Nathan Baca (Sarah), Noelle Baca and Jeremy Montoya, great-grandchildren; Jaiden Baca, Noah Martinez and Dion & Asher Gallegos; siblings, Lina Valdez, Gilbert Montoya, Charlie Montoya and Robert Montoya; and numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives.

In her spare time, Sylvia enjoyed embroidering, solving word puzzles and coloring. Sylvia loved to bake biscochitos, make fudge, sweet rice and natillas. She always had time for her grandchildren and great grandchildren and bragged about all their accomplishments. She was very loved and will be greatly missed.

Rosary service will be held on Tuesday July 19th at 7:00 p.m. Funeral mass will be conducted on Wednesday July 20th at 9:00 a.m. With both services to be held at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Las Vegas, N.M.

Burial to follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Las Vegas, N.M with the following as pallbearers: Joshua Baca, John Nathan Baca, Noelle Baca, Michael Salazar, Rick Valdez and Stephen Blea. Honorary pallbearers, Jeremy Montoya, Jaiden Baca and Noah Martinez.
