Sylvia D. Ortegon, a lifelong resident of Las Vegas, NM passed away on August 5, 2026, at the age of 54. Sylvia was raised by her mother Dorothy Pacheco in Las Vegas, NM, but was born in Denver, CO on February 29, 1972, to Dorothy Pacheco and Mario J. Oretgon Sr. Sylvia was preceded in death by her father, Mario J. Ortegon Sr and her Beloved brother Mario D. Ortegon Jr.

Sylvia is survived by her mother, Dorothy Pacheco; her daughter, Novyembre Lucero and Son in law Anthony Garcia; her 2 grandbabies, Ezequiel and Xavier Garcia; nieces and nephews, Tomas, Ulyses, Erika Denise, and Manuel Ortegon, many friends who were family in her eyes, not by blood but by choice.

Sylvia was a lifelong Catholic, and a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church. She attended West Las Vegas Schools, then continued her education at LCC, where she completed her LPN program, becoming a nurse and serving the community she grew up in and loved dearly.

Sylvia, better known as “Dini” to her close friends and family, had the most caring heart and motherly nature to all those she met from all walks of life. She was easily recognized from around the corner by her unique voice and laughter. She loved watching movies and going out to eat with her loved ones. She enjoyed making jewelry, sewing, drawing, music and dancing; but most of all, she Adored her Momma, her amazing daughter, Novy and wonderful son in law, Tone, and she adored and treasured her 2 grandsons. Let us not forget her faithful and loyal dog, Chata, who was always at her side till the very end.

Rosary will be held on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at 6:00 pm at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Las Vegas, NM. Funeral mass will follow on Wednesday, August 19, 2026 at 9:00 am at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Las Vegas, NM. We will then proceed to Los Hueros, NM, where she will be laid to rest at the Morada De San Juan Cemetery, alongside her beloved brother and father, Mario Jr and Mario Sr. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate any donations.
