Obituary

It is with great sorrow and with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Brother, Son, Uncle, and Friend, Theodore Paul Gallegos, or Ted, as he was affectionately known by all. After an extended illness, Ted passed away peacefully, on Sunday, August 31, 2025, his 65th birthday, at his brother's home in Rio Rancho, NM.

Ted was born in Las Vegas, NM to Arthur (Tudy) Gallegos and Bertha Lydia Gallegos on August 31, 1960. He was raised in Las Vegas, NM where he attended school at West Las Vegas. As a young boy, he loved the outdoors, chasing cows while helping his grandfather Lujan, which he affectionately called his Pampo. He attended West Las Vegas High School where he was the lead trumpet player in the band. He graduated from WLV High School in 1978. Ted went on to study chemistry and other sciences, and was in pre-med while he attended college at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. There he was an active member and the Drum Major of the Lobo Spirit Marching Band. He then pursued a career as a Food Service manager in the restaurant/hospitality industry which he loved and had a great passion for. Ted loved working with his staff, and some of them eventually became his best friends. Ted's second home was in Sunny San Diego, CA where he moved with friends and established roots there in 1989. It was in San Diego that he met his life-long partner, Mark Miller, in 2005, and made a very happy life there. He loved San Diego, but his heart was always in NM with his Honey (mother), whom he adored.

Ted is preceded in death by his father, Arthur (Tudy) Gallegos; paternal grandparents, Felipe and Eloisa Gallegos; his maternal grandparents, Ismael and Magdelena Lujan, and several Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins. He is survived by his life-long partner, Mark Miller; his loving Mother, Bertha (Honey) Gallegos and her partner Blas Duran; his brothers Dean Gallegos (Darlene), Joe Vega (Antoinette Fuentes), and Ronnie Gallegos, his niece Janice Gallegos, his nephews Jonathan Gallegos (Deidra), Justin Gallegos (Rachel Trujillo), Steven Vega (Kayla), and Cisco Vega (Mia). He is also survived by his great nieces and nephews; Nolan Gallegos, Xylie Gallegos, Gracelynn Gallegos, Victoria Vega, Zack Vega, and Ivey Vega. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Ted always excelled at everything he did. He loved his music and playing the trumpet, and learning new things, especially in the field of Quantum Physics. Other hobbies included cooking, baking, and gardening. He enjoyed sharing these hobbies with his friends and family, especially the children, via Facebook Live and videos he and Mark would create. He was a very generous and loving person and would do anything for the ones he loved, and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was a very special Uncle and Cousin to all the children in his family and he passionately spoiled them and showered them with gifts. He was devoted to his family, as he loved his nieces and nephews. He had a magnetic personality and drew people towards him with his friendly demeanor. He was full of life and absolutely loved bright colors and outfits that stood out amongst a crowd and passionately loved planning and having parties that he would describe as 'epic.' Ted's calm, caring demeanor will live on through his family.

Rosary services for Ted will be September 18, 2025 @ 9:00 with funeral services following at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Las Vegas, NM. Burial services will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery with his ashes being placed next to his paternal grandfather and father. Urn Bearers are his great friends, Andrew Arroyo and Bernadette Galvez.
