Thomas Frederick Meyer, 83, passed away at his home in Rociada, New Mexico, leaving behind a legacy of love, hard work, and devotion to family.

Tom was born on September 27, 1942, in Omaha, Nebraska, to Gwendolyn Arnold and Raymond Meyer. After his parents divorced, Tom and his brother, Edward Meyer, moved to Miller, Nebraska, where they lived with their grandparents, Faye and Scott Arnold. Tom and Edward attended a one-room schoolhouse in Miller, an experience that remained an important part of his childhood. After those early years in Miller, Gwendolyn, Tom, and Edward moved to Gardena, California, where Tom met Linda Parker, who would become the love of his life.

Gwendolyn married Edward Murphy after her transition to California and had a son, Hugh Murphy. Upon the death of his mother, Hugh came to live with our family in Colorado. He became a beloved part of the family and was raised with us until adulthood.

On June 6, 1960, Tom married Linda in Mexico. Together they shared 41 years of marriage, building a life rooted in perseverance and love, raising their family with care and strength.

Tom proudly served his country in the United States Navy before beginning his long career in telecommunications with Pacific Bell. In 1972, he transferred to Mountain Bell in Denver, Colorado, and in 1987, he accepted a position as District Manager, overseeing northwestern New Mexico and southern Colorado.

Tom and Linda eventually purchased their dream home in the mountains of northern New Mexico. They had horses and loved trail riding all over the country, as well as camping and fishing together. Tom also had a passion for running and completed marathons in Victoria, British Columbia; Denver, Colorado; as well as in New Mexico and California. He had a passion for anything outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, hiking and skiing.

Following the passing of his beloved wife Linda, Tom was fortunate to find companionship once again. He met Berna Griego-Ortiz, and together they shared 19 wonderful years. They loved dancing, especially to Spanish music, and enjoyed visiting at venues all over New Mexico. Her companionship, friendship, and love brought great happiness to Tom during his later years.

Tom is survived by his children, Karrie Meyer and her husband Kevin; David Meyer and his wife Lisa; and Stacy Meyer and her husband Doug Chesnick. He is also survived by his brother Hugh Murphy and his wife, Linda Meyer.

He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren, Christopher Meyer and his wife Jennifer; Nicholas Meyer; Ryan Braddy and his wife Laura; Tyler Braddy and his wife Stephanie; Chase Redden; Colton Chesnick; and Sean Murphy.

His cherished great-grandchildren include Kenzie Braddy, Parker Braddy, Benjamin Braddy, Lincoln Braddy, Jace Braddy, Caden Beal, Tatum Beal, Charlotte Meyer, Paige Meyer-Head and her husband Max, and Preston Follstad.

Tom was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Linda Meyer; his parents, Gwendolyn Arnold and Raymond Meyer; and his brother, Edward Meyer.

Tom will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his quiet strength, his love of horses, his passion for running, and the joy he found in the outdoors. Throughout his life, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, veteran, and friend. His greatest legacy is the family he loved so dearly and the memories they will carry forward for generations.

He will be forever loved, forever remembered, and forever missed.

A celebration of life in honor of Tom will be held at the Mora VFW in Mora, New Mexico, on September 19th, 2026, at 1:00 PM. All family and friends are invited to attend. Please feel free to attend in casual dress and food will be served.
