Tobias Ortiz passed away on July 31, 2025, peacefully in his home in El Pueblo surrounded by all his family. He was 85 Years old.
Tobias was born to Jacobo and Virginia Ortiz in El Pueblo on January 27, 1940. Throughout the years of employment, he worked in the mines, construction, and mechanics. His passion was ranching and being with cows. His hobbies were hunting, ranching, and fishing. In his later years he liked driving around with his wife Molly to get his burger, ice cream, and his Dr. Pepper. He loved spending time with his family and his animals. He was a member of San Miguel Del Vado Church, Cursillo, Marriage Enrichment, Hermano's Crusados, Youth Group, and Church Choir. He loved singing and playing guitar and being the camp cook for hunting trips.
He preceded in death by his siblings, Isabel (Raymond) Madrid, Margaret (Emeterio) Crespin, Melita (Herman) Dimas, Lory (Ambrosio) Martinez, Jakie (William) Gonzales, Remija (Eliseo) Griego, Jose (Rita) Ortiz, Eloy (Sadie) Ortiz. His in-laws Manuel (Jose), Elfego (Lucille), Virginia Lambert His infant son Ralph Edward Ortiz. His grandchildren Little Toby Ortiz and Elijah Montano.
He is survived by his loving wife, Molly Ortiz of 63 years. Together they had six loving children, Tommy (Sheryl), Patricia (Paul), Lorraine (Albert), Ralph (Melinda), Maria (Karl). He had 17 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Sister M Corita Ortiz, in-laws Leo (Isabel), Gabby (Joe), as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends all over the valley. Special thanks to all his care givers throughout the 23 years who have become family.
Rosary and Mass will be at San Miguel Del Vado Parish in San Miguel with Father Vincent Dominguez on Friday August 8,2025 at 1:00pm. Burial will follow at El Pueblo Cemetery. Serving as Pallbearers are Jacobo Ortiz, Adam Ortiz, Mateo Salazar, Avie Chavez, Sam Gonzales and Carlos Gonzales. Honorary Pallbearers are his loving grandchildren and great grandchildren.
