Tomas John Salazar, 71, of Las Vegas, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on September 27th, 2025, at home surrounded by his loved ones.
Tomas was born on March 8th, 1954, in Hatch, New Mexico, to Selia and Simon Salazar. Tomas was a Vietnam War veteran. He was a loving husband, the best father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and great uncle. Tomas was also known as "Big Stoner" "The Godfather" or "Papo" to his grand babies. He was the best grandfather ever! Everyone who knew Tomas knew he could always crack a joke no matter what! The biggest jokester. He loved spending his time with family, and was always down for a cruise! One of his favorite things to do all day, every day! No matter the time or place he was always up for it. Tomas was truly one of a kind, he definitely left an unforgettable mark on everyone's heart who knew him. His memory will forever live on!
He is preceded in death by his Mother, Father, and is now with his first granddaughter, Alexia. He always looked forward to being with her again, he loved her dearly. May they rest in peace together.
Tomas is survived by his wife, Christine Salazar, daughters and sons, Marlene (Michael), John Jr., Christopher, Aaron, Dolores, Anthony, Joey, and Robin who was like a daughter. Many grandchildren, Alexandria (Devin), Jesus, Rachel, Corazon, Micah, Ethan, Ezra, Trinity, Jayd, Catherine, Iliana, Aaron, Chimaya, and Arianna. Tomas is also survived by his sisters and brother, Mary Anzures, Margaret Quintana (who he considered his "twin"), Steve Salazar, Josie Salazar, Georgia Saiz, along with great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many cousins as well.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 17, 2025 at 9:00 am, at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Las Vegas, NM
