Tony C. Ortega, 81, a lifelong resident of Las Vegas and current resident of Villanueva, New Mexico, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at UNM Hospital on October 22, 2024. Tony was born on December 24, 1942 to Antonio and Delfinia Ortega. He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Marcella Ortega and Stella Esquibel. Tony is survived by his wife, Aggie Lucero Ortega. sisters, Geneveve Sandoval and family and Minnie Vigil and family. His children, Brenda Duran (Raymond), Cheryl Ortega, (Chris), Kelley Ortega, Barbara Alkalani, and Mary Archuleta. Stepdaughters Dawna Ortega-Gallegos (Jerry), Beverlyn Navarrette (Mike), and Vallerie Maestas (Ricardo). 11 grandchildren. 18 great-grandchildren, his fur baby, Patches, as well as extended family and friends.

A rosary will be held on Friday, November 1st at 7:30 PM. Funeral mass will be held on Saturday, November 2 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, with Father Rob Yaksich celebrant. Pallbearers: Raymond Duran Jr., Joshua Duran, Mariano Gallegos, Antonio Esquibel, Jesse Salazar Navarrette, Lane Moss, Joe Delgado and Jarrod Ronquillo. Honorary Pallbearers: Ivan Ortega, Raelene Moss, Lucia Martinez, Analysa Ortega-Gallegos, Lily Garner, and Monica Archuleta. As per Tony's request, cremation will take place, and a private burial will be held at a later date with the immediate family. The family would like to thank the staff at UNM for their kindness, compassion, and quality of care.
