Our beloved Viola Q. Gonzales, 90 a resident of Wagon Mound passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2023 in Wagon Mound surrounded by family and friends.  She was born in Wagon Mound on March 28, 1932 to the late Laudente and Maria Quintana. She was united in marriage to Ramon Gonzales on July 21, 1951. Viola was a member of the First Baptist Church in Wagon Mound.

Viola was a homemaker, whose greatest joys included cooking and baking for her family. Anyone that left her home never left on an empty stomach. Viola was very talented and was well known for making beautiful arts and crafts, sewing and crocheting clothes for her children and grandchildren.

Viola was preceded in death by her husband Ramon Gonzales, parents, Laudente and Maria Quintana and five sisters: Adelia Trujillo, Celia Ledoux, Rosa Cordova, Carmen Quintana and Elsie Aldridge, daughter Marie Gonzales and great-grandson Marco Sandoval.

She is survived by her children Raymond "Bobby" Gonzales and wife Gyneth of Springer, Betty Cruz and husband, Tim of Wagon Mound, Carmen Cook and husband Mike of Clovis, Eddie Gonzales and wife, Maxine, of Watrous, Janet Sandoval and husband Sandy, of Santa Fe, Andrew Gonzales and wife Madeline, of Las Cruces; brother Laudente "Junior" Quintana of Wagon Mound; fourteen grandkids and twenty-two great-grandkids.

The family of Viola Gonazales would like to express their deepest gratitude to her caregivers: Deborah Archuleta, Karen Romero, Joanne Moreno and Faith Armijo and to all of the hospice staff at Ambercare. She was treated like royalty until the very end.

Viola was the matriarch of the Gonzales family and will be sorely missed.

Cremation has taken place and a family burial will take place at a later time.
