"Sonny" Romero
April 21, 1938 – April 7, 2025
Waldron R. "Sonny" Romero 86 passed away in peace on April 7, 2025. He was born in Las Vegas on April 21, 1938, the fourth child of 12 to Andrea Garcia Romero.
He went to Immaculate Conception School and graduated in 1956. He played sports at school. He loved to box and run. Waldron enlisted in the Army for several years after High school.
When he came back he worked different jobs, till he learned how to cut meat, he later worked at Columbia Supermarket as meat cutter for years. When they closed down he started to work for the City at the Housing Department and eventually transferred to the Gas Department where he landed up retiring from there.
He was big brother and dad to many of his younger siblings. He worked very hard to help his mother provide for the family.
He was a die-hard Raiders fan even when they were losing. Waldron had his little ranch that he loved to work. He loved going camping and working with his hands.
He is preceded in death by his mother Andrea Romero; his sisters, Marie Ritchie (Jack), Rita Salazar (Timmy), Grace Castellano (Johnny), Jane Apodaca (Max),and Carrie Flores; brothers-in-law, Artie Geoffrion, Richard Roybal and his son Vincent Romero.
Waldron is survived by his sisters, Irene Geoffrion, Cathy Collins (Ray), Louise Sandy, and Lorraine Romero; brother, Gilbert Romero (Hiilani); sons, Thomas Romero (Merlyn) and Eugene Romero (Adelina); daughter-in-law, Annie Romero (Vincent), many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Rosary will be held Thursday April 24, 2025 at 7:00pm at Immaculate Conception Church, with the mass being held on Friday April 25, 2025 at 11am at Immaculate Conception Church. Waldron will be laid to rest at St. Anthony's Cemetery following the mass services. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren.
