Rosa O. Estrada, age 65, a resident of Las Vegas, New Mexico and former resident of La Cueva, New Mexico passed away on Friday, January 8, 2010 at the UNM Hospital in Albuquerque, NM.
She was born in La Cueva, New Mexico on March 21, 1944 to the late Felipe Vigil and Eduvigen Gurule Vigil.
She was united in marriage on June 25, 1962 at St. Gertrudes Church in Mora, NM to Donaciano Estrada.
She was employed as House Keeper by Leslie and Rosemarie Montoya who she considered as family. She had a big heart and touched everyone she met in a special way. She enjoyed cooking, baking, dancing and spending time with her family and friends. She was the foundation of her family values and morals. She was loved by everyone, especially children. She had a sense of humor, made everyone smile.
A lifelong Catholic, she was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church.
She was preceded in death by: her parents Felipe Vigil and Eduvijen Gurule-Vigil; her brother Benito Vigil, father-in-law Alejandro Estrada, mother-in-law Celestina Estrada, brothers-in-law Eloy and Damacio Estrada and sister-in-law Cordelia Estrada. God Mother Mary Bagwell.
She is survived by her husband Donaciano Estrada; Sons: Marvin (Veronica) Estrada of Bernalillo, NM; Don Robert (Angel) Estrada of Albuquerque, NM; a grandson whom she raised as a son Adrian (Germaine) Estrada of Las Vegas, NM; Daughters: Jeanette (Ernest) Gutierrez of Wagon Mound, NM; Theresa (Richard "Bimbo" Garcia) Estrada of La Cueva, NM. Grandchildren: Melinda Estrada (Toby) of Las Vegas, NM; Agnes Estrada (Brian) of Las Vegas, NM; Brian Quintana of Albuquerque, NM; Siris Montoya of Santa Fe, NM; Amanda Gutierrez (Alex) of Wagon Mound, NM; Nathan Gutierrez (Janette) of Clovis, NM; D'Anna Hare of La Cueva, NM; L. David Hare Jr. (Santana Valdez) of La Cueva, NM; Anthony, Jordan and Monique Garcia; Diego Otero of Albuquerque,NM; Vidal, Ariana Estrada & baby on the way of Albuquerque, NM. Great-grandchildren: Alexa and Aubrey Grado, Julius and Julian Saiz, Aleigha Rose Hare, Xavier Valdez-Hare, Destiny Rose Gutierrez. Sisters: Senaida and husband Alex Medina of Burns, WY; Martina Casias and husband Juan of Albuquerque, NM; Ida Vigil (Leroy) of Wagon Mound, NM, whom she loved as a sister. Sisters-in-law: Frances Minjarez and companion Mel of Pueblo, CO; Stella Vigil (Charlie) of Mora, NM;, Cecilia Estrada of Las Vegas,NM. Brothers-in-law: Eduardo Estrada and Luis Estrada of Pueblo, CO. Nephews: Pancho Vigil (Clara), Juan Vigil (Dolores), Freddie Vigil (Grace), Andy Vigil, Roy Medina, Louie Casias (Veronica), Richard Casias (Sheri) of Albuquerque, NM; Roy Medina of Omaha,Nebraska; Jerry Minjarez (Maxine) of Pueblo, CO; Alex Minjarez of Pueblo, CO; Joe Estrada of Las Vegas,NM. Nieces: Patsy Weber (Charlie) of Golondrinas, NM; Gloria Valdez (Joseph) of Phoenix, AZ; Linda Casias of Albuquerque, NM; Gloria Estrada-Montoya, of Albuquerque,NM; Lillian Oltivirez (Dicky) of Denver, CO; Liz Barkley (Wade) of Burns, WY; Debbie Minjarez of Pueblo, CO; Lucy Minjarez of Denver, CO; Joyce Minjarez of Pueblo, CO; Diane Minjarez of Pueblo, CO. Rosary devotional services will be conducted on Sunday evening at 7:00pm at the Rogers Chapel and also on Monday evening at 7:00pm at Our Lady of Sorrows Church. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday morning at 9:00am at Our Lady of Sorrows Church with Father C. John Brasher. Interment will follow at the San Rafael Cemetery, La Cueva, NM with the following serving as casket bearers: Juan Vigil, Frank Pancho Vigil, Freddie Vigil, Andy Vigil, Richard Casias, Louie Casias, Jordan Garcia and Manuel Sisneros, Jr. "GTO". Serving as honorary bearers: Dwayne Gurule, Glen Medina, Trini Garcia, Justin Montoya, Sam Romero, Alex Minjarez and Jerry Minjarez.
