Melba A. Armijo, age 83, a lifetime resident of Las Vegas, New Mexico passed away on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at Alta Vista Regional Hospital in Las Vegas, New Mexico.
She was born on May 8, 1930 in Las Vegas, New Mexico to the late Manuel Montoya and Emilia Grace Westgate Montoya.
She was an Elks Club Member with her husband, and was founder of "The Help for the Needy Club". She enjoyed having family gatherings, embroidering, jewelry making, reading and in earlier years, crafting ceramics.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
A lifetime Catholic, she was a member of Immaculate Conception Church and the Catholic Daughters.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Deacon Vicente E. Armijo, Sr.; parents; brother, Paul Montoya; mother and father-in-law, Mercedes and Joe Lujan; brothers-in-law, Joe Armijo and wife Ann, and Bennie Gallegos; granddaughter, Diandra Romero, and nephew, Ronald Gallegos.
She is survived by her sons and daughters, Vicent E. Armijo, Jr. and wife Charlene of Rio Rancho, NM; Carla Garcia and husband Ronald, Aleene Ludi and husband Carl, all of Las Vegas, NM; Allen Armijo and wife Jeanette of Santa Fe, NM; Bettina Armijo and Armand Saiia; Frank Armijo and Bertha of Las Vegas, NM; Emilia Armijo of Santa Fe, NM; Michael Armijo and wife Beverly of Ribera, NM; Manuel Armijo and Ben Armijo of Las Cruces, NM; Kelly Armijo and wife Adreina; and Kerry Armijo and wife Cynthia, all of Albuquerque, NM; grandchildren, Mercedes, Nicole, Charles, Eric, Justin, Jason, Christina, John Paul and wife Adele, Christopher and fiancee Marcia, Allen, Jr., Erica, Dolores and fiancee Donavin, Paul, Diego, Ariana, Divana, John, Miguel, Angie and husband Rob, April and husband Jessie, Justin, Edward and fiancee Vanessa Vigil, Elise, Michael, Jr., Marisa, Vicente, Justice, Ashley, Benjamin, Alexander, Cameron, Cody, Mariah, Samantha, Ezra and Isaiah; great-grandchildren: Isiah, Hailey, Leshea, Isabella, Ava, Jayce, Avary, Lawrence, Andrew, Alexis, Madison and Lilly; sister: Jeanne Gallegos and family of California; brothers and sisters-in-law: Olivia Roybal, Ricardo Lucero, Joe Marie Sanchez, Helen Montoya, Tommy Lujan, James Lujan, Theresa Romero and Linda Mares; special friends, Mary Martinez, Mary Tomita, Marisella Augillera; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, many other friends, and all Home Health Care providers.
Rosary services will be held on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at 7:00 pm at Immaculate Conception Church. Funeral Services will be conducted on Thursday, February 20, 2014 at 9:00 am at Immaculate Conception Church with Father George V. Salazar as Celebrant. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 3:00 pm with the following serving as Casket Bearers: John Paul Ludi, Christopher Ludi, Diego Romero, Edward Casaus, Justin Armijo, Michael A. Armijo, Jr., Allen Armijo, Jr., Vicente Lawrence Armijo. Serving as Honorary Bearers will be Paul Armijo, Alexander E. Armijo and Benjamin J. Armijo, Jr.
