Anthony E. Rivera, age 49 a longtime resident of Rainsville, New Mexico passed away on Monday, March 14, 2016 in Roy, New Mexico.
He was born in Roswell, NM on July 1, 1966 to Francisco Antonio Rivera and Maria Genoveva Duran.
He was a 1984 graduate of Mora High School. Anthony was employed at the New Mexico Department of Transportation, Served in the United states Marine Corps from May 1984 to May 1988, was a rancher and owned and operated his outfitting business, Anthony Rivera Professional Outfitters, Inc. He was a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan. He loved spending time with his family especially the children. He loved animals and loved the outdoors.
He was preceded in death by his father: Francisco A. Rivera; paternal grandparents: Marino and Rose Rivera; maternal grandparents: Emilio and Francisquita Duran; nephew and friend: Raymond Tweed.
He is survived by his beloved wife: Megan McCawley-Rivera of Rainsville; children: Joseph Rivera (Angela) of Las Vegas, NM; Anthony Rivera, Jr. (Theresa) of Las Vegas, NM; Joshua Rivera (Colleen) of Las Vegas, NM; step-children: Michelle Foley (Bryan) of Indianapolis; Michael Murry and wife Iryna of Houston; daughter he raised: Marina Trujillo and fiancée Carlos; mother: Genevieve Rivera of Rainsville; father and mother-in-law: Jim and Nancy McCawley of Rainsville; granddaughters: Madison Jade Foley and Rylee Anne Foley; brothers and sisters: Yolanda Boyce and husband George of To'hajiilee; Marino Rivera of Rainsville; Frances Tweed and husband Larry of Las Vegas, NM, Patricia Matejicka and husband Steve of Rainsville; Deborah Rivera and partner Antonio Medina of Encinal; sister and brother in-laws: J.C. McCawley of Mississippi, Shannon Neraal and husband John from Alabama; special nephews and nieces: Anthony Alameda and wife Jessie of Alabama; Nancy Jones and husband James of Alabama; Carmen Rivera and wife Monica of Colorado; Diego Rivera and partner Monica Pino of Rainsville; Angelica Rivera and partner Royce Greer of Albuquerque; Larry Tweed II of Las Vegas, NM; April Secor and husband Joe of Florida; John Tiernan and wife Kristen of Las Vegas, NM; Jessica Starkey of Rainsville; Gene Sandoval and fiancé Brandy of Albuquerque; Amanda Sandoval of Albuquerque; ten grand-nieces and nephews, many special friends, special aunt: Rosalie Guevara of Rainsville, DOT family and numerous cousins.
Rosary service will be held on Friday, March 18, 2016 at 7:00pm at Immaculate Conception Church in Las Vegas, NM. Funeral Service will be conducted on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 10:30 am at St. Gertrude Church in Mora, NM with Father C John Brasher as Celebrant. Serving as Casket Bearers will be Diego Rivera, Steve Hernandez, Eli Duran, Mark Montoya, Danny Alcon and John Arguello. Serving as Honorary bearers: Joseph Rivera, Anthony Rivera, Jr., Joshua Rivera, Michael Murray,Jarrod Duran, Anthony Alameda, Justin Griffith, Jesus Valdez, Greg Montoya, Lesley Pacheco, Daniel Duran, Larry Tweed II, Michael Urioste, Joe Espinoza, Lawrence Espinoza, Mathew Espinoza, Andrew Espinoza, Cory Moore, John Tiernan, Gene Sandoval,Francisco Valdez and Judy Silva. Cremation will take place following services.
