Obituary

Our beautiful, beloved mother, daughter, sister, aunt, niece and friend Carmen L. Tafoya passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family on December 4, 2018. She was born Carmen Luisa Trujillo on October 21, 1949 to Max and Consuelo Trujillo in Las Vegas, NM. She was a 1967 graduate of West Las Vegas High School. She and Arturo (Art) Tafoya were united in marriage on August 3, 1968. Carmen had a knack for numbers and worked many jobs as an accountant in Albuquerque, Pecos, and Las Vegas. She retired as an Accountant/Supervisor with the City of Las Vegas Utilities Department. Carmen was very creative, always looking for new and different ideas to create crafts; she loved spending time with her family which often times included cooking or baking. She also enjoyed an occasional visit to a casino to play her favorite slot machines. She is survived by her father Max O. Trujillo, her daughters Venessa and husband Nic Jackson, and Margaret Arnold Tafoya; her sisters Virginia Trujillo, Dolores (Salomon) Maese, Rosalinda (Kirk) Schanbarger; her brothers Joseph (Delma) Trujillo, Richard (Ruth) Trujillo, Eddie (Diane) Trujillo, Angelo (Lora) Trujillo, Max (Beth) Trujillo, and Louie (Steve) Trujillo; sisters-in-law Theresa (Tony) Trujillo, Josie Cisneros, and Martha (Tita) Montaño; great-aunts, Carmen CdeBaca, Maria (Patsy) Roybal, Rafaela Gastelo and Frances Chavez;great uncle: Ramon Trujillo; and by many devoted, loving nieces and nephews, She was preceded in death by her loving husband Arturo Tafoya, her mother Consuelo Trujillo, her brother Tony Trujillo Sr., her mother-in-law Lucia Romero, nieces Tanya Trujillo, Manaia Lautalo; nephew Tony Trujillo Jr. In gratitude, her family would like to acknowledge Hospice of New Mexico and in particular, Ann Martin, for the great, thoughtful care provided. Services will be held Wednesday, December 12th at Immaculate Conception Church, with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 9 am followed by the Mass of Christian Burial celebrant Fr. George Salazar. The burial will take place following the Mass. Arrangements are under the direction of Rogers Mortuary. Honorary pallbearers are her brothers and her son-in-law.
