Obituary

Clarence Gilbert Vigil, 71 passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at his home in (El Alto) Mora, New Mexico with his life partner Sarah Cordova and special friend Thomas Garza by his side.

He was born on February 28, 1950 to Eluid (Blue) Vigil and Emma Oralia Gallegos in Chacon, NM.

Clarence story begins in Holman, New Mexico (Mora County). He attended Mora High School until 1966. His family moved to Las Animas, Colorado where he found work in the fields. He then moved on to a variety of jobs which included the Fort Lyon Canal Company; Bent County Courthouse Maintenance; Las Animas Police Department; Volunteer Bent County Sheriff Posse Member; Bent County Ambulance Service; He also worked in the prisons in Bent and Olney Springs counties and as a Youth Counselor for the CBR Youth Connect Boys Ranch. When he returned to New Mexico in 2006, he went to work in the mines in Questa, New Mexico then as a Deputy for the Mora County Sheriff's Office and later as transport officer.

Clarence was a fan of many sport. He followed Colorado sport teams especially the Broncos and the Nuggets. He participated in all aspects of his first love, basketball both playing and coaching for many years. He was most proud of his professional wrestling, as part of Tri-States- wrestling he was well known as "The Silver Bullet". Clarence enjoyed participating and fundraising others in entertainment. He enjoyed all aspects of law enforcement, New Mexico Spanish music brought him much joy, as he loved to sing and play his guitar. All who knew Clarence are aware that he never met a strangers he always had time to tell a story or a joke. He will be remembered by many for his sense of humor and storytelling.

Clarence is preceded in death by his parents: Eluid and Emma Vigil; siblings: Laura Martinez, Judy Montoya and Paul Vigil.

Clarence is survived by his life-partner Sarah Cordova; daughters: Annette (Brett) Meyers and Eneeke (Thomas) Harrison; siblings: Oliver (Estella) Vigil, Ernie (Karen) Vigil, Bella (Mike) Leyba Vigil and Kenneth Vigil; stepchildren: Thomas Vigil, Les Trammel, Amanda Gordon, Robert and Samantha Cordova; grandchildren: Shayun and Nolan Meyers, Stellan and Elliott Harrison; step grandchildren: McKinnon Harrison, Mickayla  (Nate) Krowczyk, Billy Nelson, Rachel Gordon, Arissa, Robert Jr and Gilbert Cordova; two great grandchildren: Jovan and  Vayla; two special friends: Thomas Garza (Cindy) and Joel Mark Chapman (Karla); numerous: aunts and uncles, relatives and many friends.

Rosary services will be held on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at 10:00AM at St. Gertrude Catholic Church in Mora, NM. Funeral mass will follow rosary. Due to Covid 19 masks must be worn.
Cremation has taken place and burial of cremains will be held at a later date.
