Dora Gallegos, age 88, a lifetime resident of Montezuma, NM passed away on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at St. Vincent Hospital in Santa Fe, NM.

She was born in Montezuma, NM to Eduardo Varela and Margarita Vigil on March 26, 1932.

A Catholic and a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Las Vegas, NM. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Arturo Gallegos, son: Edward Gallegos, grandson: Mark Carrillo, great-grandson: Cruz Gallegos, brothers and sisters: Raymond Varela, Jerry Varela, Luisa Lujan and Albina Maestas.

She is survived by her Sons and daughters:  Leroy Gallegos (Lucy) of Albuquerque, NM;  Angie Gallegos (Patrick), Lorraine Lucero (Leonard), Marvin Gallegos (Linda) Annette Gallegos (Darren) and Martin Gallegos (Tanya) all of Las Vegas, NM;  17 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, numerous great-great grandchildren, sisters: Virginia Varela of Kansas, Pauline Garcia of Las Vegas, NM;  Maria Gonzales (Antonio) of Los Vigiles, sisters-in-law: Anne Romero, Inez Richardson (Larry), and Frances Gallegos all of Albuquerque, NM;  numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral service was held on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at 9:30am at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Las Vegas, NM with Father Rob Yaksich as celebrant.

Funeral service will be live streamed on face book Our Lady of Sorrows Church, oloslasvegas.org or You Tube Our Lady of Sorrows Church. You may also listen to it on 105.5 am radio station. Due to Covid 19 masks must be worn and social distancing is required.

Interment will be held at St. Anthony Cemetery in Las Vegas, NM with the following as Pallbearers Jerry Gallegos, Leonard Lucero Jr., Rudy Gallegos, Makayla Vigil, Antoinette Gallegos and Sebastian Gallegos.  Honorary Bearers will be all her remaining grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
