On July 9, 2021, we lost our father, Levi Chavez, Levi passed away at the awesome age of 95.

Levi was born on October 9, 1925 in Ojo Feliz, New Mexico to Jose and Hilaria Chavez.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Andrellita " Tita" Chavez, his daughter Patsy Marquez, an infant son Anthony Chavez, daughter Christi Edwards, his mother and father Hilaria and Jose Chavez, sisters, Rose Vigil, Amalia Vigil, Maclovia Sanchez, granddaughters, Melissa Chavez, Penny Marquez, great grandson, Andres Chavez, daughter-in-law's, Diana Chavez and Doris Chavez.

Levi is survived by his son Levi Chavez, Jr., daughter, Gloria Gutierrez, son, Julian Chavez, son, Lee Chavez (Crinda), daughter, Merlyn Gonzales (Abel), son, Deacon Ernest Chavez (Darlene), daughter, Lorraine Tafoya (Robert), daughter, Eileen Gallegos (Steve) and son, Daniel Edwards (Jamie), twenty four grandchildren, thirty three great grandchildren, seven great great grandchildren and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins..

Levi was a rancher all his life and he also owned and operated a lumber mill. He worked six days a week in his younger years (up until he was around 70 years old). In his late 80's he would still go outside and chop wood. He would tell us, his children and his friends about it and we would not believe it until we would see doing just that. He enjoyed meeting and talking with people, telling stories and jokes and spending time at Laguna Vista Quik Stop. His pastime in recent years was watching basketball and baseball. We would ask him which team was his favorite and he would say, "El que gana!" The one that wins! He loved scratching lottery tickets and when he would not win he would say "que cusquera", how stingy!

A rosary will be held on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at 9:00AM at Immaculate Conception Church in Las Vegas, NM, Funeral mass will follow  rosary with Father George V. Salazar as celebrant.

Interment will follow at St. Anthony's cemetery with the following serving as Pallbearers Brian Chavez, Andrew Marquez, Donna Chavez, Anthony Chavez, Diego Gallegos, Joshua Tafoya, Michael Gonzales, Paul Gonzales, Abel Gonzales Jr. and Matthew Gonzales. Honorary Pallbearers will be all his other grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
